Who We Are

Welcome to the website of the Southern Area of The Links Incorporated. Browse our pages to view our programming and initiatives implemented to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and communities served within the 7 states and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas by 80 Chapters more than 4,000 volunteer members. Honored to emphasize our 2019-2021 theme Collective Excellence: Elevating Our Friendship, Enriching Our Service as our focus to deliver sustainable transformational programming within this Area.

The Southern Area includes the states of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. We are under the leadership of our Southern Area Director Sylvia Perry of the Bold City (FL) Chapter. Our Area also boasts several signature initiatives that directly effect our Southern culture. Our diverse scope of service includes mentoring youth, financial education and estate planning for all ages, arts exposure to disadvantaged communities, STEM, breast cancer awareness and contributions to the global community of color.  Feel free to read about our programming under the Programs tab.

The Links, Incorporated, founded in 1946, is a women’s volunteer service organization committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African-Americans and other persons of African-American ancestry. A premier international service organization with more than 15,000 members in 288 chapters located in 42 states, the District of Columbia, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, we are committed to our legacy of friends providing service that changes lives.

Established by the original circle of nine friends in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With over 2 million service hours recorded in the past three years, members regularly contribute more than 500,000 documented service hours in their respective communities annually. The Links Foundation, Incorporated, the philanthropic arm of The Links, Incorporated, has made more than $25 million dollars in charitable contributions since its founding. Working closely with its sponsors and supporters, The Links, Incorporated are “Linked in Friendship – Connected in Service.”
